Hinduism, Idol worship & Incarnation..

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Idol/object worship and Polytheism were rampant in Arabia before the advent of the last and final Messenger of Allah, Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The Kaaba was a well known sanctuary dedicated to pagan deities wherein there were more than 360 idols placed. However, after the message of oneness of God was revived through the last and final testament of God- The Qur'an, idolatry was abolished from the land of Arabia.

Idol worship- Is submitting to something other than Allah, and turning to something other than Allah. It can be a rock, stone, an idol of a saintly person etc. People submit, glorify, prostrate to these idols as a part and parcel of their devotion and worship to God (believing that they would be their intercessors or forms of God ). This is termed as 'Shirk ' in Arabic which when loosely translated in English means- Associating partners/rivals with the One true God. Shirk is indeed the most heinous and monstrous crime.

As we have been discussing the Message of all the Messengers of God in my previous articles, we must be aware by now that all of them preached the same basic message of worshipping the One and Only God. Our Lord, is the True and Only Creator that deserves to be worshipped. A stone, a statue, a cross, Mahatma Gandhi, Sai Baba or  Marylin Monroe; Sun, Moon, Shri Krishna, Buddha, Joseph Stalin, Light, Fire, rivers, cows, Shri Rama, Prophets, Messengers (Including Prophet Muhammad-peace be upon them all), Sheiks and Shaks etc are not worthy of worship in the least bit. All of them are the CREATION of Allah. Whereas Adam, Moses, Jesus, Muhammad (peace be upon them all) taught us to worship the CREATOR alone.

In Islam – Worship, prostration, submission is only for Allah, may He be glorified and exalted. Any sane person would admit that Idol worship is a gross injustice and violation of the very first commandment in all the scriptures, and is an unforgivable sin if maintained until death.
Sadly, the majority of people who believe in God commit this gross offense without even realizing it.

We read in the Qur'an how Prophet Abraham(peace be upon him) reasons with his father & people-

And recite to them the story of Ibrahim.
When he said to his father and his people "What do you worship?" They said: "We worship idols and to them we are ever devoted" He said: " Do they hear you, when you call on (them)? Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" They said: "(Nay) But we found our fathers doing so" [Al-Qur'an 26:69-74]

And mention in the Book [the story of] Ibrahim. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet.
When he(Ibrahim) said to his father: 'O my father! Why do you worship that which hears not, sees not and cannot avail you in anything? [Al-Qur'an 19:41,42]

In this article i would like to highlight some excerpts from the book 'Truth of Light' authored by Swami Dayanand, the founder of the Arya Samaj. It is said that "It is perfectly certain that India never saw a more learned Sanskrit scholar, a deeper metaphysician, a more wonderful orator, and a more fearless denunciator of any evil, than Dayanand, since the time of Sankarcharya." Though some of his writings (on other religions apart from his studies of vedas) can be effectively refuted.

As a child, Dayanand was brought up under the strictest Brahmin rule. When he was fourteen his father took him to the temple on the occasion of Shivaratri. Dayanand was asked to fast and keep awake the whole night in obedience to Lord Shiva. In the night he saw a rat nibbling the offerings to the God and running over Shiva's body. He tried to find out from elders why this "God Almighty" could not defend himself against the menace of a petty mice, for which he was rebuked. This incident shattered Daya Nand Saraswati's faith in the idol worship and thereafter he refused to participate in the religious rites for the rest of his life.

After completing his studies, Swami Dayanand started preaching against negative social customs such as casteism, blind idol worship. He believed in a formless God, and was against polytheism.

I ask you O open minded reader and seeker of truth to give due consideration to the following arguements and texts from the scriptures (Vedas) and ask yourself whether you follow the first commandment commonly laid down in all the scriptures. My aim is to point out the commonalities so that we may unite under the same umbrella by recognizing the One who created us all. Below are the excerpts from his book-

1. There are more Gods than one mentioned in the Vedas. Do you believe this or not?

No, we do not; as nowhere in all the four Vedas there is written anything that could go to show that there are more gods than one. On the other hand, it is clearly said in many places that there is only one God. [PAGE 203]

2. What is meant by the mention of various devatas (Gods) in the Vedas then?

- Whatsoever or whosoever possesses useful and brilliant qualities is called a devata, as the earth for instance; but it is nowhere said that it is God or is the object of our adoration. Even in the above mantra it is said that He, who is the sustainer of all devatas, is the adorable God, and is worthy of of being sought after, They are greatly mistaken who take the word "devata" to mean God. [PAGE 203]

3. Has God a form or is He formless?

He is formless, because if He possesses a form He could never be Omnipresent, nor, therefore Omniscient, since a finite substance can possess only finite attributes, actions and nature. Besides, He could never be free from hunger and thirst, heat and cold, disease, imperfections and injuries. This proves, therefore, that God is formless, If He were to possess a body, another person would be required to make the different organs of His body, such as eyes, ears and the like, for He, who is the product of the combination of the different parts, must have an intelligent formless maker. Here if it be urged that God Himself made His own body simply by willing it, this too goes to prove that He was formless before He made His body. It is clear, therefore, that God is never embodied. Being without a body He is able to make the visible universe out of invisible causes. [PAGE 208]

Kindly, read the answer carefully for the following question. I trust misconceptions and wrong notions like these would be cleared after reading this.

4. Does God incarnate or not?

No; because it is said in the Yajur Veda. 'अज एकपात्', 'स पर्य्यगाच्छुक्रमकायम्' "He is unborn." Again "He overspreads all." He is pure, is never born and never takes on a human form." It is clear from these quotations that God is never born.

5. But Krishna says in the Gita, "Whenever there is decay of virtue, I take on a human form." (Bhagvad Gita 4:7) What is your answer to this?

Being opposed to the Veda, it cannot be held to be an authority. Though it is possible that Krishna, being very virtuous and being extremely anxious to further the cause of righteousness, might have wished that he would like to be born again and again at different times to protect the good and punish the wicked. if such was the case, there is no harm in it; because 'whatever the good and the great possess - their wealth, their bodies, aye eve their hearts - is at the service of humanity? In spite of all this Krishna could never be God. [PAGE 219]

5.How could such wicked men as Raavana and Kansa be destroyed if God did not incarnate?

Firstly, whosoever is born, is sure to die. Secondly, what are Kansa and Raavana, when compared with the Almighty God, who without being incarnated has created this world, is sustaining it and can resolve it into its component elements? He being Omnipresent also pervaded the bodies of Kansa and Raavana and could at His will cut their vitals and instantaneously kill them. What shall we then call such a man but a fool who says that the Supreme Spirit possessed of Infinite Power, attributes and activity takes on a human form and becomes subject to births and deaths in order to kill an insignificant creature.
Were anyone to say that God incarnates for the salvation of his devotees, then too it could not be true, for, if the devotees conduct themselves according to the Will of God, He is powerful enough to save them. What! Is the destruction of a Kansa or a Raavana or the lifting of a mountain, such as Govardhan, even more difficult than the creation, sustenance and dissolution of the sun, the moon and the earth and other planets? Whosoever ponders over the great things that God has done in this universe, cannot but come to the conclusion that "There is no one like Him, nor shall ever be."
Nor can the incarnation of God be demonstrated by reason, just as as the saying of a man, that space entered a womb or was put in a closed hand, can never be true, for space being Infinite and Omnipresent can neither go in, nor come out; similarly, God, being Infinite and All-pervading, it can never be predicated of him that He can go in or come out. Coming and going can be possible only if it be believed that there are places where He is not. Then was not God already present in the womb and was not He already present outside that He is said to have gone into and come out of it? Who but men devoid of intelligence, can believe in and say such things about God? Therefore, it should be understood that Christ and other were also not incarnations of the Deity, fear and grief, births and deaths, they were all men.

6. Do you believe God to be Formless or embodied?
Formless.

These are the answers given by a Hindu scholar (Not a Muslim or Christian scholar) based on his study of the Vedas which still contain the basic message of One God, though the Vedas present today may not be in their original form. Yes, There are portions which cannot be attributed to God and are the handiwork of men of the past. There are also portions which contain gross errors and go against the established science. These, therefore cannot be from God almighty. Nevertheless, I do not wish to highlight that which will bear no fruit to our purpose of following atleast that which is common between us i.e.

Recognize and Worship One God who has created me and you. The Only true God who revealed unto us the compelete way of life through the last and final revelaton (The Qur'an) to the last and final Messenger, Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings be upon Him).

Men in the past, attributed images, forms and ideas to God which are sadly being followed blindly today. Would you blindly follow the same without knowing the truth? It is important to note that -- that nothing in creation is like unto Allah. Rather He is One, Unique, Self Sustaining. He has no spouse or child; He has no peer or equal. Also note that- The moment we can compare anything to Allah, He ceases to be Allah. One must also register that it is absolutely wrong to belitlle God and attribute to Him forms which He forbade us from doing.

We are told in the Qur'an-

Say, He is God, the One and Only!
God, the absolute the eternal!
He neither begets nor is He begotten.
And there none like unto Him. [Al-Qur’an 112]

The Islamic verdict is absolutely clear- Allah sent His Messengers throughout the ages with clear instructions for mankind. However with passage of time, people changed the message for their convenience and forsook the path of righteousness. As the chain of Messengers and Prophets would come to an end after the death of Prophet Muhammad(peace and blessings be upon him), Allah revealed the Qur'an as a mercy and guidance for the whole of humanity which is still preserved in it's original form. On the day of judgement, none of us can present an excuse before Allah saying 'we didnt know which path was the right path' when we all will be called for account for our deeds. He has bestowed us with intelligence to decide right from wrong, truth from error.

I ask Allah to open your heart to the truth and decree good for you, and to guide you to the eternal path of success prescribed by Him- Submission to the will of God almighty.

10 Tips on How To Te a Successful Husband!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Allah uses amazing parables in the Qur’an that strike fear, awe and amazement in the hearts of the believers. Throughout the Qur’an, Allah draws parables for us to convey the importance of certain topics, to extract lessons from them and so that we may ponder and reflect over them.  There is one such parable that Allah puts forth that increases the love and mercy between a husband and wife, and this parable is one of the most eloquent and striking in the Qur’an.

They are your garments and you are their garments. [Al-Qur'an 2:187]

Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said- “The best amongst you are the ones who are best to their wives.”  So dear Muslim brother! Your obligations towards your wife are not limited to earning money and supporting her financially. A wife needs love from her husband, and emotional support too!

1) Dress Up

Dress up for your wife, look clean and smell good. When was the last time us men went shopping for designer pajamas? Just like the husband wants his wife to look nice for him, she also wants her husband to dress up for her too. Remember that Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) would always start with Miswak when returning home and always loved the sweetest smells.

(Dress up for your wife when you are at home also. Some brothers only dress up when they go out and that is not a good practice. A husband should dress up for his wife when they are at home. it makes a wife feel special.)

2) Sweet Names

Use the cutest names for your wife. Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) had nicknames for his wives, ones that they loved. Call your wife by the most beloved names to her, and avoid using names that hurt their feelings.

(Remember, you are your wife’s only boyfriend, and her only best friend. She does not go out seeking boyfriends and she shares a halal relationship with you. Love her unconditionally for the sake of Allah. And express your love to her. A woman likes to be told that she is loved. Call her from your work to make sure she is doing fine. I have seen my dad calling my mother several times a day, just to make sure she has been eating well. These things are very important in a relationship.)

3) Reward Her Actions

Don’t treat her like a fly. We never think about a fly in our daily lives until it ‘bugs’ us. Similarly, a wife will do well all day – which brings no attention from the husband – until she does something to ‘bug’ him. Don’t treat her like this; recognize all the good that she does and focus on that.

(Whenever there is a fight or argument, just remember all the things she does for you. she cooks for you, she takes care of your home, she takes care of your children and the most important thing is that she guards her modesty. So do not upset her if she is upset with you. Hold her and tell her that you love her. Only your love can repel her anger. Communicate with her and discuss with her if there are any misunderstandings.)

4) Remain Silent

If you see wrong from your wife, try being silent and do not comment! This is one of the ways Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) used when he would see something inappropriate from his wives (May Allah be pleased with them). It’s a technique that few Muslim men have mastered.

(Do not criticize her all the time. Trust her and trust her decisions. If she is doing something that you don’t like, or that goes against the teachings of Islam, then do advice her gently.)

5) Smile! :)

Smile at your wife whenever you see her and embrace her often. Smiling is Sadaqah and your wife is not exempt from the Muslim Ummah. Imagine life with her constantly seeing you smiling. Remember also those Ahadith when Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) would kiss his wife before leaving for Salah, even if he was fasting.

(Do let your wife know that you are very happy and blessed to have her. A wife always wonder how her husband feels about her. She may have some insecurity about you, so make her feel secure. Always give her a hug whenever you come back from work. appreciate her and thank her for taking care of everything whole day. If you are not too tired, go out for star gazing for an hour or so.)

6) Acknowledge Her

Thank her for all that she does for you. Then thank her again! Take for example a dinner at your house. She makes the food, cleans the home, and a dozen other tasks to prepare. And sometimes the only acknowledgment she receives is that there needed to be more salt in the soup. Don’t let that be; thank her!

(Write thank you notes for her and place those notes in her books, her purse, her socks, and anything else that belongs to her. You can use your own creativity to thank her. This way a couple saves themselves from many fitnahs. You can thank her by writing her letters and emails. Remember, in Islam, everyday is special. So celebrate wife’s day with her, and do it very often without having a particular date. She will always wonder when the wife’s day is going to be.

You can also give her a certificate of appreciation. Do everything by yourself that day and let her rest, this way you will also know how difficult it could be to do household chores. Thank her by building a webpage for her, write a note there and a poem and then ask her to visit your webpage.

Thank her by giving her a gift, and a gift does not have to be expensive. Be creative! You do not have to give her Roses, you can give her a leaf too! So remember, thoughtful and creative gifts makes a wife feel secure and happy. Thank her by ordering a halal pizza for her, ask the restaurant to cut it in a heart shape and have it delivered with a personalized note. Thank her by thanking her in a family gathering. A woman likes it when her husband gives her attention.

If you visit her parents or your parents, hold her hands and tell your parents how happy you are after marriage. Give your wife an Islamic book as a gift after praying Tahajjud. Use your imagination and think about unique gifts. Remember, she does not need a diamond, she needs your sincerity and your heart, so always give her the gifts that are thoughtful. Whenever you do something to make her happy, observe her facial expressions and ask yourself about how you feel when you become her happiness.)

7) Ten Blessings From Allah

Ask her to write down the last ten things you did for her that made her happy. Then go and do them again. It may be hard to recognize what gives your wife pleasure. You don’t have to play a guessing game–ask her and work on repeating those things in your life.

(Also ask her to write down the things you did that she did not like, or the things you did that made her unhappy. Try to not do those things in future. If she falls ill, let her lay down, and read different surahs from Qur’an while placing your hand on her forehead.  Remember, a wife needs her husband the most when she is not feeling well. Take good care of her because a healthy wife makes a healthy family. Do not expect too much from her when she is sick.)

8) Validate her Feelings

Don’t belittle her desires. Comfort her. Sometimes the men may look down upon the requests of their wives. Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) set the example for us in an incident when Safiyyah (May Allah be pleased with her) was crying because, as she said, he had put her on a slow camel. He wiped her tears, comforted her, and brought her the camel.

(If there is a time of sadness, give her your shoulder to cry on. Hold her and tell her that everything will be fine. Remember, a woman does not like to cry alone in a corner. She needs someone to hold her when she is sad, so never let her feel lonely. Remind her the verses from Qur’an that talks about Patience and Piety.)

9) Have Fun!

Be humorous and play games with your wife. Look at how Rasulullah (peace and blessings be upon him) would race his wife Aisha (May Allah be pleased with her) in the desert. When was the last time we did something like that?

(A sense of humor plays a very important role in a marital relationship. Most women wish to have a husband who has a good sense of humor. Tell her decent and modest jokes that make her happy. A wife appreciates it very much if her husband makes her smile. You can play various games at home.Think of different games you can both play. Let her win sometimes (rather most of the times)! Losing for the one you love is no losing at all!

Adopt interesting hobbies, such as reading, cooking together and gardening (grow a surprise rose plant in your garden, when you have the first rose blooming, take her to the garden and show it to her. Newspaper and Sports Issue! Men like to watch sports, or read newspaper. So be very careful. If you are watching sports, turn the TV off if your wife comes around. Give her attention. Do not spend too much time reading newspaper, and do not read newspaper on the breakfast table, rather have an Islamic discussion.

10) Be The Best

Always remember the words of Allah’s Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): “The best of you are those who treat their families the best. And I am the best amongst you to my family.”
Try to be the best! In conclusion: Never forget to make Dua to Allah to make your marriage successful. And Allah knows best!

(And once again: your wife is your best friend, and your girlfriend. Share everything with her. Remember she is your garment and you are her garment, so hide her faults and mistakes. Learn to forgive her. Also communicate a lot with her family. It really makes a difference if husband communicates with his in laws. It helps both husband’s and wife’s family to share a beautiful relationship. Respect her parents and show your love to her family. This will inspire her to love and respect your family. If her family is not muslim, do dawah to them in a beautiful way.)

Spend lots of time praying to Allah swt. Do fast often even if it is not Ramadan. Fasting brings patience and taqwah. Lead her in the prayer. There is nothing better than praying together. Remember Allah, so that Allah remembers you.

May Allah bless us and guide us all.

Ameen!

One God- One true Religion!

In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.

All praise and thanks are due to Allah, and peace and blessings be upon His Messenger.

Assalam alaikum [May peace be upon you].

How many of us really know why we believe in something?
Is it just because we were brought up around it or we never bothered to really find out??

There are approximately 6 billion human beings in the world today and majority of the population believe in the existence of God. We know of people following Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sikhism, Taoism etc. as their Religion. Some people deny any such existence of a super power and turn to atheism [the rejection of belief in the existence of deity or religion].
Religion can be loosely translated as set of beliefs. There are many interpretations religion and some of them are:
§  A strong belief in a supernatural power that controls everything.
§  An institution to express belief in a divine power.

Let us analyze what each term means-

Christianity – Christianity is a word derived from Christ [Prophet Jesus Christ (peace be upon him)]  Greek word Kristos- which means "anointed one" and is based on the Bible as sacred scripture. The followers of Christianity are called Christians [Followers of the teachings of Christ (peace be upon him)]

Hinduism – Hinduism is derived from the word Hind [Region now called India] and is based on diverse traditions and is the predominant in the Indian subcontinent. Hinduism should be referred to as Sanathana Dharma [Sanskrit - "the eternal law"] also termed as Vedic religion since Vedas are considered to be the supreme authority amongst the scriptures in Hinduism.  The adherents are called Hindus.

Judaism – Judaism is derived from the word Judah [The name of a tribe] and is based on the teachings of the Old Testament. Those who profess unto Judaism are called Jews. It is considered by them to be the expression of the covenantal relationship Children of Israel with God.

Buddhism – Buddhism is derived from the name of Gautama Buddha [The name of a king]. Buddhism a religion and philosophy incorporating a diversity of beliefs traditions and practices based on teachings accredited to Siddhartha Gautama, commonly known as the Buddha. The adherents are called are Buddhists.

Islam- Islam is a word which comes from the Arabic word "aslama" which means Peace. And Islam means peace acquired by surrendering submitting, sincerely obeying the will of Allah [God]. The followers of Islam call themselves Muslims which means- A person who acquires peace by surrendering submitting, sincerely obeying the will of God Almighty.

Out of all the religions in the world Christianity, Islam and Hinduism are the 3 major world religions being adhered to, followed by Christians, Muslims and Hindus respectively. If we look into it further, we realize that most of the people who are adherents of a particular religion follow that brand of religion because their fathers follow the same religion. In other words, a family tradition being carried on from generation to generation!
One may say- I am a Christian because everybody at home follows Christianity or I am a Muslim because my father is a Muslim or I am Hindu because my ancestors were Hindus. So, if I were to say that most of the people are Christians, Muslims, Jews and Hindus by CHANCE.

I am proud to say that I am a Muslim by CHANCE and by CHOICE, both! Alhamdulillah.
By CHANCE because I was born to Muslim parents (alhamdulillah) and By CHOICE because I learnt about Islam, the message of Allah in the Qur’an and was truly convinced (alhamdulillah).

Islam promotes Monotheism (Belief in One God) and there are several verses in the Holy Qur’an that instruct mankind to be monotheistic. Allah reveals in the Qur’an that all the Prophets [Noah, Moses, Jacob, Joseph, Jesus, Muhammad (peace be upon them all)] promoted the same belief and never projected a belief different from what God ordained them to. Every prophet preached the same basic message- Believe in One God and keep His commandments (submit to the will of God).

But the question is- If the Prophets proclaimed this message of monotheism then why do people believe in multiple gods? Believing in multiple gods is termed as Polytheism.

Unfortunately, people (followers/adherents) portray an altogether different image of their religion.  Most of our Christian brothers would say GOD IS 3 IN ONE (Trinity). Most of our Hindu brothers believe that ‘In everything there is God’ and ‘Everything is God.’  In order to know what the religion says any sane person would try to seek answers from the Scriptures of the religion considered to be sacred by the adherents.

The Qur’an clearly mentions-

Say, "O followers of the scripture, let us come to common terms between us and you: that we shall not worship anyone except GOD; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside GOD."
If they turn away, say, "Bear witness that we are submitters (Muslims)."
[Al-Qur’an 3-64]

Allah, for surety guides those people who wish to seek the truth.
Let us see, what the Bible [Old and New Testament], The Vedas, The Qur’an have to say about this concept of One God.

In my study of the Old Testament I came across the following verses-

Hear, O Israel: The LORD thy God is one LORD. [Deuteronomy 6:4 ]

Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God. [Exodus 20:3-5]

See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me. [Deuteronomy32:39]

Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. [Exodus 34.14]

For thou art great, and doest wondrous things: thou art God alone.[ Psalm 86:10 ]

Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. Fear ye not, neither be afraid; have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any. [Isaiah44:6,8 ]

Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD;
and beside me there is no savior. [Isaiah43:10,11 ]

For I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me.[Isaiah 46:9]

And thou shalt know no god but me; for there is no savior beside me. [Hosea 13:4 ]

As we read, the verses from the Old Testament clearly instruct monotheism. What about the New Testament?

And Jesus answered him, the first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: [Mark 12:29]

And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. [ John 17:3 ]

Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen. [1 Timothy 1:17]

Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. [Galatians 3:20]

As concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other God but one.[1 Corinthians 8:4]

Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
[James 2:19 ]

There are many more verses in the Bible that speak about ONE GOD and I couldn't find the word Trinity in the whole bible.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Interestingly, the study of Vedas too proved that the basic message of Monotheism must be adhered to.
Following are some of the quotations and passages from the Vedas (Rigveda, Attharvaveda, Samveda and Yajurveda)-

O friends, do not worship anybody but Him, the Divine One. Praise Him alone.[Rigveda 8:1:1]

He[God] is bodyless and pure. [Yajurveda 40:8]

There is no second God, nor a third, nor is even a fourth spoken of
There is no fifth God or a sixth nor is even a seventh mentioned.
There is no eighth God, nor a ninth. Nothing is spoken about a tenth even.
This unique power is in itself. That Lord is only one, the only omnipresent.
It is one and the onlyone.  [Atharvaveda 13-4[2]19-20]

Oh God! There is nobody like you either in this world or the world beyond. No body equal to you is born as yet nor will be born ever in future also. [Yajurveda  27-36]

Friends! Do not praise and worship anything else, do not be doomed, praise and worship only the benevolent God Almighty, unitedly in this world, sing his glory, again and again.
[Atharva 20-85-1]

This passage solves the problem of belief in Multiple gods-

The real God is one, the enlightened ones, speak of Him in several ways, God is divine, the supreme  protector and graceful sentient, the Universal soul. They call Him Indra, the Almighty, the universal  friend [mitra].  Varuna, the most acceptable and obliterator of sins, they describe Him as [agnim] the supreme guide of the Universe, [Yaman] the controller of the Universe, and [matarishvanam] the life of all lives.   [Rigveda 1-64-46]

Thus it is easy to understand that the names Indra, Agni, Yama, Suparna, Garuthman and others are different descriptions for one and the same God.

The Lord of the entire universe is one and one only [Rig-Veda 6-36-4]

He is the sole sovereign of the universe. [Rig Veda 6-36-4]

Verily He is one Single, indivisible, supreme reality. [Atharva Veda 13-4-20]

He is one, unparalleled
Through His wondrous, mighty
And formidable laws and deeds. [Rig Veda 8-1-27]

There is only One
Who ought to be adored
By the people. [Atharva Veda 2-2-1]
God has no image. [Yajur Veda 32-3]

When we read the Upanishads we come across the following verses-

Not above nor across
nor in the middle has one grasped this.
There is no comparison to that whose name is great glory.
Its form cannot be seen; no one ever sees it with eyes.
Those who know it in heart and mind
as living in the heart become immortal. [shvetashvatara Upanishad 4]

There is not seen its equal nor a superior.
It has no parent nor ruler.[shvetashvatara Upanishad 6]

The Brahma Sutra of Hinduism:

[ Ekam Brahm, dvitiya naste neh na naste kinchan]
There is only one God, not the second; not at all, not
at all, not in the least bit.

Islam- In the Qur’an we have a chaper called Surah Ikhlaas [Purity of faith] which most of the Muslims recite daily.
It reads-

Say, He is God, the One and Only!
God, the absolute the eternal!
He neither begets nor is He begotten.
And there none like unto Him. [Al-Qur’an 112]

And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him [Al-Qur’an 17:23]

In our daily prayers, 5 times a day we recite Surah Fatihah in which occurs the following verse-

You [Alone] we worship, and You [Alone] we ask for help [for each and everything]
[Al- Qur’an 1:5]

Thus when we study and look into the scriptures of various religions, we realize that people do not represent what their scripture demands of them. It is sad to see that people do not think about the religion they follow but imitate or blindly believe in what they got from the families they were born in. People do not check, verify the sources of their religion and yet call themselves to be the adherents of so and so belief. It is not right for anyone to concoct ideas and claim that to be Religion.

The Qur’an says-

Then woe to those who write the Book with their own hands, and then say:"This is from God," to traffic with it for miserable price!- Woe to them for what their hands do write, and for the gain they make thereby. [Al-Qur’an 2-79]

Though the people are into practices which the scriptures totally reject it becomes incumbent upon everyone to know the truth.
The Torah was a revelation given unto Moses[pbuh], the Injeel was a revelation given to Isa(Jesus) [pbuh] and the Qur’an is the last and final revelation by God almighty which was given unto Muhammad [saw] for the whole of mankind since there was no Prophet to come after him. However, the books before the Qur’an were tampered with for personal gains and desires and thus their authenticity is questionable.

God reveals to us in the Qur’an-

Verily We: It is We Who have sent down the Qur'an and surely, We will guard it (from corruption)
[Al-Qur’an 15-9 ]

As mentioned earlier, there was no scripture to be revealed after Prophet Muhammad andthus the Qur’an was revealed as a Mercy, Guidance and Blessing from God to the whole of humanity. And as for those you challenge the authenticity of the Qur’an to be the word of God, here is a test for them-

Do they not consider the Qur'an (with care)? Had it been from other than Allah they would surely have found therein much discrepancy (contradictions). [Al-Qur’an 4-82]

God has endowed us with intelligence- To decide and differentiate between right and wrong. Yet many of us deviate from the true path of God.  Every step in seeking the truth counts and God guides those who wish to be guided.

When we read the history of most of the Religions we see that they have originated on the bases of place, country, and names of Prophets or influential persons.
So how can even they be called religions??
True religion is the one sent down by God almighty himself for He is the One who is our Creator and knows us best!
A complete way of life and system for human kind!
Remember! many claim but not all claims are true.. Only when we read and try to find out, we can know for ourselves what is genuine and what is not!

Alhamdulilllah, we make no distinctions between the prophets of God as they all came to promote the same message of submitting our wills to God almighty. Only if we read about the lives of Moses[pbuh] and Jesus[pbuh] we would know that they were Prophets of God calling people unto Allah and never came to preach anything else other than submitting will into God almighty.

Jesus[pbuh] according to the Gospel of John says-

I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father (God) which hath sent me." [John 5:30]

May God guide us all unto truth and may we live our lives according to the commandments of God and not our vain desires.

Ameen..
